Position Overview
The Energy Analyst will work in the Energy Efficient Building Services team providing technical assistance to building owners. The Energy Analyst will conduct energy assessments, perform energy modeling of buildings and assist Energy Efficient Building Services management to oversee all aspects of energy efficiency retrofit projects.
The energy analyst role includes site evaluations of properties, analysis of current and future energy use of rental and commercial buildings, and the creation of energy assessment reports provided to owners. Additionally, this role will also involve some research into new technologies and retrofit strategies for Elevate programs.
The Energy Analyst will interface directly with building owners, contractors, property managers, and lenders to help facilitate all aspects of retrofit projects. The position is based in Chicago but may involve driving to site visits throughout the Midwest.
Prior building science or construction knowledge is strongly desired smart, highly motivated individuals, who meet the basic requirements below, will be given consideration.
Accountability
The Energy Analyst reports directly to the Manager of Assessment Field Services in the Energy Efficient Buildings Group at Elevate Energy. The Analyst will also work closely with Elevate Energy's construction team staff, among others.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site energy assessments of residential single family and multifamily housing, as well and commercial properties.
- Energy Analysis using energy modeling software to identify energy savings associated with potential upgrades.
- Write energy assessment reports according to program guidelines.
- Work with building owners to recognize the value of upgrade recommendations and move projects to completion.
- Provide technical consulting support throughout the energy retrofit process to project participants, i.e. property owners, property managers, contractors, developers and other project partners.
- Conduct building energy performance monitoring.
- Contribute to efforts related to outreach strategies and business development.
- Communicate with contractors and participate in construction oversight as necessary.
- Contribute to other Elevate Energy efforts as required.
Qualifications/Skills
- 4 year degree or equivalent experience in building science, engineering, construction management and/or energy management.
- Knowledge of residential and commercial construction and building systems.
- BPI Building Analyst certification strongly preferred (but not required).
- Exceptional organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to independently leverage critical thinking skills to address real world customer issues based on well-defined program guidelines.
- A demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Chicago and the Midwest region.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
- Significant experience in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Must be able to pick up new concepts quickly, take initiative in addressing unforeseen obstacles, and have ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with customer relationship management system (Salesforce) are a plus.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
