Description

Audubon, the magazine of the National Audubon Society, is a bimonthly publication with a circulation of nearly 500,000. Our mission is to help readers appreciate, understand, and protect the natural world, with a particular focus on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats.

Current available positions include:
Editorial Interns (openings year-round)

Audubon uses interns throughout the year, for roughly 13 weeks at a time. Interns have the opportunity to work with several departments while learning about magazine publishing and the environment. In addition to some clerical duties (opening and sorting mail, copying, filing, etc.), the intern may be involved with copyediting and copy flow (inputting copy and research changes, creating and circulating galleys) and general editorial work (responding to reader inquiries, responding to writer queries and manuscript submissions, researching story ideas for writers). Qualified interns may also have writing opportunities in the Audubon in Action department of the magazine.

For the fall (September-December) and spring (January-April) sessions, interns are required to work at least two days per week over an approximate 13-week period, in exchange for an $800 stipend. During the summer session (late May-August), interns are required to work four days a week in exchange for a $1,600 stipend.

We look for upper-level undergraduate or graduate students with some reporting and writing experience and a demonstrated interest in journalism and the environment. Audubon is an equal-opportunity employer and values a diverse staff.
