Essential Functions

List of significant/essential duties, tasks and/or responsibilities required of this position.

  • Manage day-to-day maintenance of CDI’s Sustainability Program, ensuring continued compliance with both internal and publicly-announced goals and commitments.
  • Engage with customers on issues relating to sustainable dairy industry practices.
  • Ensure the proper completion of customer surveys relating to sustainability.
  • Oversee the publication of marketing material related to CDI’s Sustainability Program, including brochures, annual updates, and customer presentations.
  • Assist DairyAmerica and Challenge Dairy Products with the development of their Sustainability Program marketing material.
  • Assist the Vice President, Sustainability & Membership in administering various sustainability investment programs.
  • Conduct on-farm evaluations of member dairy farms, pursuant to the Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) Environmental Stewardship program.
  • Represent CDI on the Dairy Cares’ Board of Directors.
  • Take on projects and assist others when needed.
  • Follow all safety and working rules.
  • Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment.
  • Excellent regular full-time attendance in support of company objectives.
  • Use initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with California Dairies, Inc. best interests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position will supervise the Sustainability Specialist.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Dairy or sustainability experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Simple math reasoning required.

Language Skills

  • A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.  Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must possess or be able to acquire a California Driver’s License.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The company will make reasonable accommodations that do not cause an undue hardship if such and accommodation enables individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.  Employees will be subject to temperature associated with an air-cooled room. Temperatures range from 34 to 100 degrees. Travel between plants and the member dairies will be required.

Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to: hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, rubber boots, gloves and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties while working in the plants. Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
