~ Teatown Lake Reservation, a non-profit environmental education center with a 1,000-acre preserve located in Westchester County, has a mission is to inspire our community to lifelong environmental stewardship. ~

Position Overview  

Teatown Lake Reservation searching for a Director of Programs. This position will report to the Executive Director and will supervise the Science, Stewardship, and Education departments.

The main role of the Director of Programs will be to integrate our science, stewardship, and education initiatives to ensure that they are consistent with one another and with our strategic plan. Additionally, the Director of Programs will actively work to develop new partnerships and programs as needed. 

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that scientific research at Teatown is informing our stewardship and education initiatives.
  • Oversight of Stewardship and Education departments including the development of outcomes, strategies, goals, and measures of success.
  • Creation of materials and programs on conservation science to engage Teatown's various audiences.
  • Implementation of programs including teaching at the high school and/or college level and working with local communities to enact conservation measures.
  • Development of strategic partnerships to support programs.
  • Grant writing and donor cultivation.
  • Budget preparation and management. 

Qualifications  

Required Experience: 

  • Master's required, Ph.D. preferred.
  • Proven track record conducting scientific research in the environmental sciences and integrating research findings into management and/or educational efforts.
  • 5+ years' experience in program development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience managing multiple direct reports.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and experience conveying science to a variety of audiences.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work in a team environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to create new initiatives that are mission-centric while increasing organizational impact and visibility. 

Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position with a regular workweek of Monday-Friday, 7 hours a day with weekend and evening work required on occasion. Teatown offers a competitive benefits package including paid leave and health care coverage. Salary commensurate with experience.
