FLO International is the worldwide Standard Setting and Certification organization for Fair Trade. It permits nearly 1 million producers, workers and their dependents in 49 developing countries to benefit from labeled Fairtrade.
FLO International is made up of two organizations:
? FLO e.v. develops and reviews standards for fair-trade products and assists producers to get and maintain certification and to find buyers for their products.
? FLO Certification Ltd. guarantees that products sold anywhere in the world with a Fairtrade-label conform to Fairtrade standards and contribute to the development of disadvantaged producers.

Director of Producer Business
Reports to: General Director FLO International
Function:
? To develop and ensure the provision of relationships and a process that enables producers to gain and maintain Fairtrade certification and to be put in touch with relevant buyers in order to sell their products.
? To source new suppliers of scarce products.
? To manage the Producer Business Unit (PBU) and to contribute to an effective senior management team.
Core Responsibilities:
? To develop and provide a service which meets the needs of those producers seeking to attain or maintain Fairtrade certification and those looking for buyers of their Fairtrade products.
? To manage the PBU, its staff and the overseas based, producer liaison network
? To provide a limited information service between producers, traders and NIs.
? To be a part of the senior management team.
? To attend and advise the Board and its' relevant sub-committees on producer issues.
Tasks:
? Developing a strategy and process for assisting producers in their business.
? Ensuring the Unit develops and maintains good producer knowledge and relations.
? Ensuring the recording and provision of relevant information about producers and their markets.
? Managing the Bonn based staff of the Unit and ensuring the proper support of the overseas based producer liaison network and the effective allocation of their work.
? Convening, servicing and advising the relevant groups, committees or sub-committees in FLO's governance and advisory structures.
? Contributing to policy discussions and papers on relevant issues.
? Attending the FLO Board.
? Being a member of the FLO e.v. senior management team.
? Undertaking such other tasks as are considered necessary by the General Director and are consistent with the level and responsibilities of this post.
Person specification:
Necessary:
? 10 years experience in small business development in the 'south'
? Commercial experience in the 'north'.
? 10 years management experience
? Fluent English
Advantageous:
? Working knowledge of Fairtrade
? Experience of work in a not-for-profit organisation.
Terms:
The job is full-time and is based in the FLO e.v. office in Bonn, Germany, but will involve some travel overseas. The working language is English.
