Description
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC), a national nonprofit organization, seeks a Director of Major Gifts/Fundraising.
Responsibilities:
- significantly increasing philanthropic contributions from major donors including individuals, foundations and corporations;
- create and implement a multi-year strategy for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donor prospects and current donors with the VP of Development/Communications;
- team with program department and TrailLink.com team to prepare letters of inquiry, proposals, progress reports, and budgets;
- process grants, sponsorship acknowledgements and implementing recognition activities;
- donor and prospect research;
- Create/maintain master calendar for grant submission and reporting deadlines;
- cultivation and solicitation mailings;
- and foundation, corporation and major donor cultivation and stewardship visits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required;
- must possess superior writing and editing skills, with a minimum of 3 years experience in working with major donors, developing cultivation strategies and soliciting and closing $10,000+ gifts;
- strong team player with the leadership skills to motivate others to be the same;
- Must have excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage people and projects to achieve multiple deadlines;
- strong interpersonal skills;
- knowledge of major donor development and foundations is essential.
- And knowledge of conservation, land use or transportation issues a plus.
- Travel required.
