Our Air Quality
specialists work to serve our existing and rapidly growing client base across multiple
sectors: industry (aerospace, manufacturing, food service, etc.), healthcare,
biotech, schools and universities, development (real estate and construction),
and municipalities.
The Air Quality team provides services pursuant to federal,
state, and local requirements and specializes in California’s complex
regulatory air framework including, the South Coast Air Quality Management
District, California’s Air Pollution Control Districts, and the California Air
Resources Board. The Air Quality practice provides a suite of services which
include: field monitoring, emissions modeling, regulatory and policy analysis,
and litigation support.

Position Overview
The successful applicant will be
a driven and established air quality professional with business development
experience able to design and implement a strategic vision for expanding Alta’s
existing service line and model for the Air Quality team. S/he will have
impeccable client service and communication skills, the ability to thrive
within a fast-paced and dynamic work culture, and a strong working knowledge of
the California regulatory space.
This position is an excellent opportunity for
an entrepreneurial professional seeking to grow an existing practice area, as
well as to work with leaders in the environmental sector. The Director, Air
Quality will report to the President. This position will be located in our Long Beach office.
Primary
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director, Air Quality will
perform the following and other duties as assigned:
- Provide analysis and recommendations onregulatory
air quality issues to ensure continuous, proactive support and compliance for existing
and future clients - Generate revenue for the Air Quality
team by developing new clients and markets as well as leveraging existing
clients and company talent - Monitor and evaluate regulatory developments and provide analysis
and recommendations to executive team - Monitor and evaluate regulatory developments and provide analysis
and recommendations to executive team - Assist clients by responding to
immediate needs as well as providing forward-thinking counsel on potential
regulatory requirements - Actively write, speak, and present topical
information to applicable conferences, industry newsletters, regulatory working
groups, etc. - Continuously review and improve
internal processes to ensure proactive support and response to client needs - Work closely with existing technical
professionals; grow and hire additional professionals accordingly - Ensure
quality control of outgoing work products and correspondence - Assist
in marketing efforts, help in the production of summary memos, proposals,
and presentations as needed
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the
following minimum qualifications:
- 10+ years’ experience in environmental
consulting and progressive knowledge and expertise in Federal and California air
quality and pollution management - Bachelor’s degree in engineering,
environmental science or other applicable field; Master’s degree preferred - Goal-oriented, high energy leader with
strategic vision and entrepreneurial drive - Proven track record of client
development and revenue generation; well-established industry and regulatory contacts,
particularly in Southern California - Ability to
work under pressure, prioritize, and manage multiple, often competing
tasks - Experience
in client services or a management consulting firm preferred, project
management experience a plus - A driven, insightful,
curious, pragmatic, and strategic mind - Outstanding
research, analytical, writing, and editing skills - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills - Professionalism,
poise, and the ability to work as part of a team - Willingness
to travel, if required (travel is minimal) - A deep
commitment to the mission and culture of Alta Environmental
