Position Overview

The Database Manager, in conjunction with the VP, Finance & Administration, and outsourced IT provider, is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective functioning of the organization's database, related integration with the clients' websites and other systems, and reporting. 

Responsibilities 

  • Use advanced query tools to extract and analyze information from the ClearVantage database as requested by internal and external users
  • Develop new query and report formats, as needed, and add them to the ClearVantage libraries so that they are available to other staff
  • Collaborate with each department to determine needs and educate them on how the ClearVantage database can facilitate their needs
  • Manage and ensure accurate and effective integration between the clients' websites and database and manage the development of new integration points as program needs dictate
  • In conjunction with key staff, manage and oversee projects that involve integration with current systems to include the development of timelines, budgets, and needs assessments
  • Manage external vendors and serve as key staff liaison on projects requiring integration with database
  • Develop and maintain organizational protocols for pulling lists and other data from the system to ensure accurate data
  • Responsible for pulling all lists for mailings and ensuring accuracy of data prior to submission to program staff or mail house
  • Serve as the main point of contact for setting up events in the system, ensuring that they function properly both internally and on the web
  • Train new employees and outside partners on the proper use of ClearVantage applications and train existing staff on new features or releases as they become available
  • Liaison with the client and ClearVantage staff to resolve application challenges and to develop enhancements
  • Develop ClearVantage resources and training materials for staff and outside partners and keep them current as processes change
  • Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications  

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
  • Experience with SQL databases required, experience with ClearVantage preferred
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with computerized information systems particularly, SQL database applications and Microsoft office applications
  • Demonstrated technical competence in relational database concepts and SQL language
  • Demonstrated ability in report development, writing, and editing in a SQL environment
  • Data handling and diagnostic skill-demonstrated ability to work with large real-world datasets to produce meaningful business information that meets the requestor's need
  • Ability to use independent judgment to and to manage and impart information to range of constituenciesExperience working effectively with staff and volunteers
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced level of expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in terms that non-IT business people can understand
  • Background in report writing
