People Power and Light (PPL) is a 501(c)(4) organization founded by Louisianans who are dedicated to fighting for our communities' needs. Of particular interest is civil rights and a healthy environment. PPL focuses on highlighting the issues that Louisianans face at a community level and the lawmakers, offices, and policies that impact them. We put the health of our communities first and empower our fellow citizens to take action and make the change they want in their neighborhood, town, parish, and state.
- Purpose of position: The PPL Coordinator will build a robust presence and program in St. James Parish, Louisiana.
- Job status: Full time, some nights and weekends required
- Benefits: Paid vacation and health insurance.
- Location: South Louisiana
- Salary: $70,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities
- Convey People Power and Light’s mission and vision to potential donors.
- Maintain relationships with donors and provide regular updates as needed
- Develop a budget and meet budget goals
Planning and Implementation
- Review analyses of past elections to determine opportunities and priorities.
- Identify tools – texting, email and calling systems – to connect with voters.
- Expand local electoral activities through robust voter registration and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) initiatives.
- Facilitate community meetings, forums, and events to gather input and mobilize support for key initiatives.
- Attend and participate in local community events
- Communicate with the press as needed
Operations and Personnel Management
- Meet regularly with partners to ensure compliance, including reporting, with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Develop an organizational culture and promote transparency and collaboration throughout the organization.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans and objectives.
- Develop partnerships with local stakeholders, similar organizations, and other relevant parties.
- Represent the organization in a way that strengthens the brand and communicates the organization’s mission statement clearly.
- Collaborate with residents and partner groups across the River Parishes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- At least 4 years of working in electoral politics.
- Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to civil rights and environmental justice.
- Interest and ability to connect with people in small towns in Louisiana.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination status.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
