Description

About Tall Timbers Land Conservancy:

The Land Conservancy, a division within Tall Timbers, was established in 1991 to ensure the sustainability and conservation of natural habitats, cultural resources, and compatible rural land uses. Tall Timbers has conserved over 161,000 acres with 132 landowners utilizing conservation easements, making it one of the largest regional land trusts in the Southeastern U.S.

Tall Timbers easements conserve some of the South’s best-remaining longleaf pine savannas; cypress-dominated wetlands; miles of river frontage along the Flint, Ochlockonee, and Aucilla Rivers; scenic canopy roads; and historic sites. Our successes are due to the visionary leadership and conservation ethic of landowners, strong Board and public support, and the dedication of our staff. Tall Timbers has adopted the Land Trust Alliance’s Standards and Practices and is an accredited land trust by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission.

Position Overview

Tall Timbers is seeking a motivated individual to be part of a cohesive team working to increase the pace of land conservation and ensure the sustainability of rural working lands and rural land use traditions throughout the Greater Red Hills Region of North Florida and Southwest Georgia. Tall Timbers has permanently conserved over 161,000 acres of forests, wetlands, and waters that protect a variety of listed species.

The Conservation Project Coordinator’s main task is to seek potential conservation easement opportunities, educate the public about opportunities for conserving their land, meet with prospective conservation easement landowners, and facilitate applications for conservation funding through federal, state, and local processes.

  • This position will work cooperatively with Red Hills landowners, local governments, state and federal agencies, and Tall Timbers staff to shepherd conservation projects from inception to completion.
  • This position has guaranteed funding for three years with the expectation of indefinite extension.
