Description
Since its inception in 2015, ASAP has built its membership base through an inclusive and accessible model that welcomes all people who use climate information in their day to day work and who embrace the network values of trust, reciprocity, member leadership, open access and transparency. While growing its membership to over 1,000 individuals and 40 organizations, ASAP staff and member leaders have worked with careful intention to build a new field of practice that looks to the expertise and knowledge of people at the forefront of climate change and recognizes the valuable expertise of those who have lived experience addressing climate impacts in their own communities.
We are seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to implement a range of ASAP programs, member groups, and events. The Program Coordinator will be an integral member of the ASAP Staff Team with a critical role in enabling peer learning, collaboration, and capacity building for ASAP members by supporting activities across ASAP’s four program areas: ASAP Connects, ASAP Serves, Adaptation Careers, and Adaptation Voices.

Adaptation Careers: The Adaptation Careers Program helps members excel in their current jobs, find new ones, and learn what it means to work in the field of climate change adaptation.

ASAP Connects: The ASAP Connects Program provides infrastructure for members to find and interact with one another in person and virtually

Adaptation Voices: The Adaptation Voices Program shares and celebrates member stories and accomplishments

ASAP Serves: The ASAP Serves Program provides a myriad opportunities for members to give back to the field of climate change adaptation
Reporting: This position reports to the ASAP Deputy Director.
Responsibilities
Implement ASAP’s capacity-building programs and events:

Recruit, onboard, and facilitate ongoing engagement for participants.

Support program and event marketing.
-
Schedule meetings, program activities, and special events.
-
Correspond with participants, volunteers, and vendors.
-
Facilitate program orientations, group meetings, and other program activities.
-
Document and synthesize conversations during meetings, program activities, and events.
-
Cultivate positive relationships with individuals and groups of members.
-
Provide periodic orientations for individuals and groups to member services and programming.
-
Support engagement of organizational members in the network.
-
Facilitate training for ASAP member leaders.

Create and revise program and event materials.
-
Maintain program records and manage and analyze data and information generated through program activities.

Write, revise, and edit written reports synthesizing outcomes of ASAP activities, projects, and initiatives.

Develop recommendations for program and event improvements and contribute to strategy-setting conversations about existing and new programs.

Contributing ideas for member engagement and value creation.

Contributing to monitoring and evaluation activities, particularly timely and accurate reporting of inputs and outputs.

Participating in workplace development, teambuilding, and strategy-setting activities

Identifying and reporting leads for donors, funders, sponsors, partners, and collaborators.
Interests, skills, and abilities important for you to succeed in this role:

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and systems simultaneously while paying attention to details;

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

1-2 years of experience providing administrative, communications, and logistics support to an organization or business;

Ability to competently and compassionately manage staff and volunteers;

Ability to catalyze a culture of cooperation by fostering opportunities to develop camaraderie and trust among all members of a group;

Ability to listen deeply to fully understand and appreciate a diversity of perspectives;

Ability to facilitate connection and collaboration within and across diverse groups of people;

Familiarity with climate change adaptation concepts.

Commitment to the principles of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion;

Desire and ability to work both in a team and independently;

Ability to manage time, remain organized, and attend to details;

Ability to facilitate existing processes while also introducing new ideas;

Proficiency in Google Suite (GMail, Google Meet, Google Drive, and Google Calendar);

Fluency in using video and audio calling, text, email, and digital calendar to connect and communicate across a remote team.

Demonstrated interest in the field of climate change adaptation;

Demonstrated interest in network building, social-impact networks, grassroots organizing, or movement building.
