Position Overview:
The Climate Action Collaborative Coordinator role is a full-time position works with the Climate Action Collaborative (CAC) for the Eagle County Community and the Sustainability Programs Department at WM to attain greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals set forth in the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community. The CAC Coordinator plays a key community outreach role working with the CAC Manager and partners of the Collaborative including local governments, businesses, schools, nonprofits, utilities, and Eagle County residents to make continuous improvements on reducing metric tons of CO2e annually to align with the carbon emission reduction goals in the Climate Action Plan. The CAC Coordinator will be working to support the general administration of the Collaborative and further supportive efforts such as research, outreach, and program delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support for the Climate Action Collaborative in achievement of CAP Goals:
- Attend, participate in, and take notes for each CAC Board meeting, stakeholder meeting, active sector group meeting, and other sector committees that may form in the future. In addition, support the CAC Manager in creating presentations, agendas, and other meeting materials to ensure successful and action-oriented meetings.
- Prepare and send annual data requests to Collaborative partners for Climate Action Plan implementation tracking metrics. Analyze year-over-year data trends to effectively understand, communicate, and make recommendations on CAC successes and areas for improvement. Work with CAC Manager to compile annual Impact Report to Collaborative partners to be delivered in Q3 each year.
- Research on identified topics to support policy or program implementation that support specific CAP goals and CAC initiatives.
- Support outreach efforts related to CAP goals and Climate Action Collaborative Partner programs including but not limited to events, newsletters, email correspondence, in-person outreach, training, newspaper columns, etc.
- Support implementation of ongoing Behavior Change Campaigns which target individual behaviors in the community that have the biggest impact on local carbon emissions.
- Work with CAC Manager and WM marketing department to implement a communications and outreach plan that recognizes successes of CAC members and aligns outreach efforts with achievement of Climate Action Plan goals.
- Foster collaborative working relationships with CAC stakeholders and board members in order to successfully partner on programs, projects, and policies that reduce emissions.
- As needed, support the CAC Manager in ongoing implementation of existing and future Climate Action Programs such as:
- Benchmarking Program for Local Governments
- Building Code Adoption
- EV Infrastructure Plan
- Eagle Valley Green Building Group Events
- Annual Electric-Vehicle Promotional Events
- Annual Electric-Bike Promotional Events
- Green Lease Program
- EV Charging Cohort
- Climate Equity Analysis
- Climate Action Week
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participation in monthly leadership team and all staff meetings
- Participation on a staff committee
- Expectation to help with large, organization-wide events approximately twice per year
- Requirement to attend two staff retreats per year
- Collaboration and partnership across organizational programs and departments

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in sustainability-related field
- 1 year professional experience in sustainability and/or clean energy related field
- General knowledge of GHG reduction strategies across sectors
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and analysis skills
- Experience facilitating and/or public speaking preferred
- An independently-driven team player who is positive, flexible, collaborative, and friendly
- Ability to effectively work on diverse teams with a diverse range of people
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Computer skills: MS Office, MS Excel, Google Suite
- Ability to work variable hours as needed
Work Environment:
The CAC Coordinator works in a variety of settings, but primarily indoors. The work environment is predominantly located on-site at the Borgen Precourt Center for Sustainability in an open office environment. The CAC Coordinator will also spend a portion of time out in the community for meetings with partners. Walking Mountains does offer flexible work opportunities which includes working offsite or from home in a virtual capacity when feasible.
