Chief Executive Officer

Avelis Biotech has developed a suite of advanced, organic formulations with demonstrated efficacies for agriculture, soil remediation, coastal restoration and stability, animal health and water treatment. The foundation of Avelis technologies centers on the discovery that there is a way to compress natural biochemical processes, reducing to minutes what would otherwise require thousands of years in nature.

Position Overview: 

This role is ideal for someone who has the right mix of experience, business savvy, entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and a large Rolodex of who's who in the agriculture, remediation, livestock, and/or water treatment fields.

The CEO will have primary responsibility for managing company operations, the overall growth strategy, organizational leadership, financial and organizational management, external communications, marketing and sales efforts. He/she will also be responsible for the development and management of advisor and investor relationships. The CEO will report to the Board of Managers.

The CEO will additionally be responsible for the development of the technology licensing and sales strategy and will market and manage all aspects of execution of the plans. He/she will also be responsible for distribution strategy and all elements of channel management in order to achieve revenue objectives.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a track record of attracting and managing funding rounds.

Focus during first 12 months:

• Develop and lead execution of commercialization/sales and marketing plan.
• Develop relationships with investors and venture capitalists; obtain financing at reasonable terms when it becomes necessary.
• Create an appropriate vision, long-term strategy and company culture.

Responsibilities:

• Revise comprehensive business plan as necessary and include new product roadmap.
• Oversee operating plan, budgets, cash flow and overall company finances.
• Build and lead an effective and cohesive executive management team, establishing a basic personnel policy, initiating and monitoring policies relating to personnel actions and training and professional development programs.
• Establish and implement short and long term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
• Close deals with industry partners.
• Help build an excellent board of directors and board of advisors.
• Ensure that operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but owned by management and employees.
• Ensure that the company and its businesses comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and, where appropriate, best practice.
• Establish, achieve and report on milestones to the company's board of directors.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of senior level management experience.
• Prior CEO/COO experience desired.
• 5+ years of strategic sales and marketing plan development and delivery, ideally directed at green, sustainable, nutrient related industry.
• Experienced entrepreneur who has taken at least one start up from Series A all the way to an investor's exit strategy, desired.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent C-level oral and written communication skills.
• Extensive experience in fund raising.
• Prior experience selling for or managing a large company or organization in a relevant industry.
• Track record of building creative, collaborative and apolitical teams.
• Willing to both lead at high level and be hands on as needed.
