Description
As a high-quality offset registry for voluntary carbon markets, it establishes rigorous standards involving multi-sector stakeholder workgroup development and local engagement and issues carbon credits in a transparent and publicly available system. The organization also supports compliance carbon markets in California, Washington and internationally.
Primary Responsibilities
The Analyst provides administrative support to the Reserve’s reporting and verification program and technical support to account holders, as well as conducting reviews of project reporting documentation under program standards.
More specifically, the Analyst duties include the following tasks below. These duties should be seen as a starting point and may evolve over time based on interests and experience.
RESERVE ADMINISTRATION (65%)

Perform Know Your Customer (KYC) process and research to approve new accounts.

Account holder support: responding to emails and phone calls for general programmatic topics, technical support, software, and account issues.

Liaise with project lead reviewers to update project status and phases in software – submittals, listing, registration, cancellation, and inactivation.

Manage Reserve file management - download and archive project related documentation; update account holder contact information; work to improve and maintain upkeep of reporting functionality.

Help manage account holder invoicing, including notices of cash balances and past due invoices.

Support data analysis and produce internal reports regarding project and registry metrics for internal distribution. Support the Reserve’s role as an Offset Project Registry (OPR), including the management of credit cancellation for conversion to Air Resources Board Offset Credits (ARBOCs).

Support updates and maintenance of programmatic content on the Reserve’s website.

Work with the Reserve Administrator as needed on Reserve Administration tasks. Assist Vice President, Programs with other administrative tasks as needed.
SUPPORT MAINTENANCE AND PERFORMANCE OF RESERVE SOFTWARE (15%)

Serve as a team member on internal software management team.

Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with software partner team.

Along with software manager, help coordinate development schedules and perform user testing.

Along with software manager, track user feedback, help maintain and assess development priorities, and help coordinate development and trouble-shooting schedules.

Manage internal and external access and security, in coordination with Vice President, Programs, including create new accounts and support ongoing access to the software.
PROGRAM SUPPORT (20%)

Serve as a technical resource to project developers and verification bodies and provide guidance with respect to policy interpretation, methodology and clarification issues related to the Reserve’s protocols.

Review project submittal and verification documents to ensure compliance with the Reserve’s protocols and program rules.

Draft clarifications to project developers and verification bodies on the findings of their project reviews.

Review and make determinations on protocol variance requests.

Conduct conflict of interest reviews between project developers and verification bodies.

Respond to general inquiries about the Reserve’s reporting and verification program.

Undertake and complete research assignments, as requested.

Assist with the development training curricula and deliver project developer and verification trainings.

Assist in the maintenance of the Reserve’s Internal Operating Procedures and User’s Guide.

Assist with development and maintenance of the programmatic portion of the Reserve’s website.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or management, public policy, or related degree.

Ability to review and understand technical documents and present materials in an understandable fashion.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and databases.

Fluency in English and Spanish.

U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S.
Salary and Benefits
The Climate Action Reserve offers competitive compensation including a rich and comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision coverage, a 403(b) retirement contribution, short- and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and generous paid time off including paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. The starting salary range for this position is $62,000 - $68,000 for employees in the US, depending on experience. The Reserve also offers reimbursements for home office expenses and flexible work options.
