The BlueGreen Alliance was launched in 2006 by the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club, as a unique labor-environmental collaboration that has grown to include the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), National Wildlife Federation (NWF), Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, United Auto Workers and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). The Blue Green Alliance unites more than 14 million members and supporters in pursuit of good jobs, a clean environment and a green economy.

The Apollo Alliance project of the BlueGreen Alliance is a coalition of business, labor, environmental and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution in America to move us towards energy independence, climate stability, and broadly shared economic prosperity.

Inspired by the vision and technological achievements of the Apollo space program, we promote policies and initiatives that will accelerate investments in clean energy and efficiency technologies, put millions of Americans to work in a new generation of well-paid, green-collar jobs, and make America a global leader in clean energy products and services. We speak directly to the economic opportunities associated with the transition to a clean energy economy and view the challenges confronting our nation as an opportunity to improve the lives and economic security of our fellow Americans.

Position Overview:

The BlueGreen Alliance's San Francisco office is seeking a smart, organized, energetic person with strong research and writing skills to assist with our state and local field department. This position will be unpaid, part-time (24 hours/week), and temporary beginning in September and ending in December. We strongly prefer applicants that can commit to a regular and consistent schedule during the entire internship period.  We are willing to work with academic institutions for credit eligibility considerations and are well connected to a network of like-minded non-profits around the country. The internship will be based in our San Francisco office.
