By blending coursework in natural sciences, social sciences, management, and technology, Cascadia's Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Practices (BASSP) provides a pathway to careers in the green industry.

Sustainability is a concept, a discipline, an ideal. It is the recognition that the prosperity of our planet, our people, and our economy are inextricably linked.  

Graduates will learn the skills necessary to plan and implement sustainable approaches to how we live and work by managing complex projects for government agencies, private and non-profit organizations, water, energy, and agriculture industries, construction management firms, and educational institutions. There is no other degree like this in Washington state. 

Position Overview

Cascadia College Cascadia is currently seeking a dynamic, collaborative individual for the position of Assistant Director, Sustainable Practices Bachelors Program.  

The anticipated start date for this position is April 1st, 2015. This position may require occasional weekend and evening responsibilities. This position is Part Time Exempt 75%. 

Responsibilities 

Under the general direction of the Dean for Student Learning and in collaboration with program faculty, the Assistant Director:  

  • Independently provides information about the new Bachelor Program to prospective BASSP applicants;
  • Advises students
  • Tracks program data and budget 
  • Collaborates with the BASSP faculty and students to achieve success in an environment that values diversity and pluralism 

Qualifications  

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications: 

Minimum 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong technical abilities with computers, presentation software applications and databases
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree
  • Work experience in higher education (advising, program management, student support services, teaching)
  • Work experience in sustainability
  • Marketing, recruiting and or promotional experience
  • Experience collecting, evaluating and assessing data
  • Experience cultivating relationships with employers and industry
  • Demonstrated commitment to pluralism and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment
