Position Overview
The Accountant plays a crucial role in the organization, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records, supporting financial decision-making, and helping maintain compliance with financial regulations. The position is best suited for working in NRCM’s Augusta office at least several days a week during regular business hours.
- Supervisor: CFO/ Sr. Director of Finance
- Status: Full time, salary, exempt
- Salary: $53,000-63,000
- Union: This position is a member of the bargaining unit
- Manage Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, and record financial transactions in accordance with organizational practices
- Produce financial reports as requested, such as budget vs actual reports
- Administer credit card accounts, including monitoring and adjusting card limits as necessary, acting as point of contact with the banking and investment institutions used by NRCM, and initiating payments with proper background information
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and maintain accurate financial records and files for auditing and tax purposes
- Support the annual auditing process
- Facilitate the timely completion of month-end, year-end, and end of fiscal year tasks and reporting such as reconciling bank statements, 1099s, sales tax report, balancing revenues, and State and Federal reports
- Update and maintain NRCM’s general ledgers by inputting journal entries in a timely manner
- Assist with budget preparation and monitoring
- Manage and reconcile petty cash
- Backup support for other administrative functions within the department, such as, but not limited to, phones, office coverage, and interacting with guests and the public
- Assist with or manage other finance-related special projects.
- 3-5 years of business accounting experience or accounting degree preferred
- Experience using accounting software in a professional environment, QuickBooks and Raiser’s Edge preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills to ensure coordination with other departments and vendors
- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential material
- Familiarity with nonprofits preferred

- Be familiar with and follow organizational protocols and policies.
