~ Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) is celebrating its 34th year providing unique and rewarding outdoor work and leadership experiences for youth and young adults. ~

Northwest Youth Corps offers a variety of field-based, leadership, education and youth development programs. All programs offer youth and young adults work training experience in a challenging outdoor format stressing education and personal growth. Northwest Youth Corps programs serve over eight hundred youth and young adults annually, operating in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California in partnership with over 35 different resource management agencies.

Position Overview

The Internships Coordinator is responsible for planning, recruiting, and coordinating Northwest Youth Corps young adult Internships program. Northwest Youth Corps Interns work directly with public and non-profit resource management agencies. Northwest Youth Corps supports these positions through thoughtful recruitment, placement, and member support and development.

The Internships Coordinator reports directly to the Internship Director, and works collaboratively with all program staff in their effort to provide opportunities to high quality candidates for field positions. This position requires a person with energy and organizational skills, a person dedicated to helping young adults develop the skills they need to lead a successful life, and a person interested in promoting the growth of a generation dedicated to stewardship of our public lands and our nation’s natural communities.

This is a 12-month, full time position. 

Responsibilities

Coordination of Recruitment Campaign:

  • The Internship Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of Intern recruitment and outreach.
  • They will be in charge of position postings with colleges, community partners, and workforce development centers, as well as attending career fairs and outreach events.
  • They will have primary responsibility for managing the recruitment database, forwarding applicants to Site Supervisors, and conducting interviews and reference checks for applicants.

Intern Support and Development:

  • The Internships Coordinator will support interns by providing orientation and training at the beginning of their placement and on-going support and professional development throughout their placement.

Collaboration:

  • The Internships Coordinator will collaborate with program staff to assure appropriate placements for all young adult applicants at Northwest Youth Corps.

Administrative:

  • The Internships Coordinator will conduct the majority of the interviews, reference checks and initial personnel file management for all intern applicants.
  • Once an intern is placed, the Coordinator will collaborate with program staff and Site Supervisors to assure reporting requirements are being met.

General Program Support:

  • The Internships Coordinator will also provide program support as needed to various Field programs.
  • This may include time spent in the field, evenings, and weekend work.
