Position Overview

Nexamp is seeking a solar Business Development Manager to lead the development of solar projects in Massachusetts and neighboring states. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of solar industry project development experience within the Massachusetts solar market. The individual hired to fulfill this role will lead the origination and development of ground, roof and other types of commercial and industrial-scale solar projects.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all phases of solar project development, from origination to start of construction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead all phases of solar project development for assigned projects, including origination, site control, project permitting, utility interconnection, tax agreement negotiation, and offtake.
  • Identify and interface with prospects and customers to evaluate and secure new project opportunities.
  • Provide site-related due diligence in support of project origination and acquisition efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to facilitate the project permitting and approval process.
  • Build and manage long-term customer relationships/partnerships.
  • Manage development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Engage and manage external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities.
  • Work with state, county and local governments, community groups, and neighbors.
  • Support internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
  • Develop sales presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts.
  • Travel as needed; some evening and weekend work required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player. Key qualifications as follows:

  • 3 years of solar industry experience in a business development role with a successful track record in project development.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Team leadership capabilities.
  • 4-year college degree in a relevant discipline.
