Job Description
Inside Climate News is seeking to hire a Donor Communications and Stewardship Manager to oversee outreach to current donors and prospective donors in support of ICN’s mission and its future. The Donor Communications and Stewardship Manager is a vital position responsible for the full range of activities required to develop positive relationships with existing donors and engage with prospective donors in ICN’s pipeline.
Location: This position works remotely and will report to the VP of Development, Operations & Marketing, working closely with the Publisher and Grants Officers.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include:
- Serving as the primary liaison with our community of small donors – writing and sending gift acknowledgements, replying to inquiries, sending regular updates and newsletters about our work – all in support of building a meaningful donor experience that leads to more donations and donations of increasing value
- Identifying and generating targeted prospect research for individual donors
- Developing and implementing a communications plan that builds awareness among prospective donors about our mission and our work – to support conversion of readers into donors
- Regularly working within our Salesforce and Mailchimp accounts to support data management, record keeping, and other communications
- Identifying and generating targeted prospect research for individual donors
- Earning the trust of colleagues and establishing smooth and solid working relationships at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
These qualifications, or their equivalents, are essential:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in a marketing, communications, fundraising, or nonprofit environment, particularly within the journalism or climate funder community
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, nonprofit management, or related fields
- Excellent writing, editing, research, proofreading and storytelling skills a must, with the ability to bring a fresh perspective to each opportunity
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
- The ability to communicate well and in a professional manner with any person

Compensation
- Salary range: $60,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
