The corps works with Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to conduct land and resource management activities in the State Park and Forest system.

Position Overview

The Student Conservation Association is seeking a Forestry / Natural Resources Technician for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest.

  • Training Provided: Project specific training (potential examples include contract administration, wetland delineation, and GIS/GPS, Technical writing)

Responsibilities

  • This position will serve as a natural resource generalist with regards to forest management and natural resource projects.
  • Personnel will be required to work in the field on a variety of tasks, such as timber sale preparation, silviculture, wetland delineation, vegetation and wildlife surveys.
  • The incumbent will be required to work as a member of a team and, occasionally, be required to lead a team in tasks.
  • Some familiarity with natural resources, GIS and forest management is needed.
  • Other multi-functional work may be performed, as assigned.
  • The incumbent must be willing to use personal protective equipment and be willing to drive own vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
  • Security and safety compliance will be required.
  • Incumbent may be required to attend training.

Compensation 

  • $1,100- one time RT travel allowance
  • $275 - weekly living allowance
  • $1,100- monthly housing allowance
  • $1,500 Reimbursable Duty Travel allowance
  • $500 Reimbursable PPE/ Additional Clothing budget
  • All allowances subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes
