Our current campaigns focus on promoting clean energy and solutions to climate change, ensuring the food we eat and products we use are sustainable and safe for our health. This role is open to candidates based at our offices in Washington DC, or to remote candidates across the continental United States.
Position Overview
The Digital Advocacy Coordinator will work in collaboration with campaign and grassroots organizing teams to produce compelling, engaging content for Friends of the Earth’s 2 million+ email subscribers and aggressively grow the email list.
The successful candidate will use digital tools to achieve real-world campaign victories – including stopping Trump’s attacks on our public lands, fighting for a Green New Deal, and getting bee-killing pesticides out of the food sold in our supermarkets. They will lean into rapid response moments and write engaging email content on extremely tight (1-2 hour) timelines.
Additionally, this position will add 300,000 new names to the email list per year and raise 25% of Friends of the Earth’s total online revenue through their digital advocacy work.
Responsibilities
- Write persuasive email advocacy content that maximizes member engagement and advocacy impact
- Grow email subscriber list through joint actions, cross promotions, website optimization, petition platforms, and new tactics
- Write donation page content that drives action takers to give to Friends of the Earth
- Design and run tests to improve the performance of our email program
- Proofread and occasionally load email content in digital advocacy and fundraising CRM Engaging Networks
- Work in collaboration with campaigners and grassroots organizers to plan and execute digital arcs that accomplish real-world advocacy goals
- Monitor, analyze, and report on email metrics
Qualifications

- Fast-paced: you’re talented at working under pressure and with short (1-2 hour) deadlines, while maintaining superb attention to detail
- Relationship-Oriented: You recognize the deep importance that relationships with colleagues play in our work, and you build rapport and trust with others
- Highly flexible: Ready to take advantage of unexpected opportunities; push work forward through obstacles and adapt quickly as things change
Required Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of experience in digital marketing, fundraising, or communications in a campaign, nonprofit or corporate setting
- Data-driven and experienced at working with email analytics
- Work Eastern Standard work hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Engaging Networks CRM or another CRM
- Experience with ActBlue or another online fundraising platform
