Position Overview
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Florida International University invites applications to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position to support continued growth of its Environmental Track Chemistry PhD program. The successful candidate will hold a primary position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the School of Integrated Science and Humanity of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education.
Affiliation with FIU’s Institute of Water and Environment (InWE), an FIU Preeminent Program, is strongly encouraged. The overall mission of InWE is advancing the science and technology needed to address complex water and environmental issues locally, nationally, and globally.
Qualifications
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in organic geochemistry, aquatic chemistry, marine chemistry and carbon and nitrogen dynamics in natural and managed systems, but outstanding candidates in other areas are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates should have a chemistry or chemistry-related Ph.D. degree and post-doctoral experience is preferred.
- Successful candidates will be expected to have and maintain a strong research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, national/international collaborations, mentoring of undergraduate/graduate and post-doctoral researchers), to teach/adapt/develop transformative courses in their discipline, to provide strong leadership and service to their department/college and institute and to have excellent communication skills.
