Position Overview

The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor, Atmospheric Science) in the dynamics and physics of the climate system. We solicit candidates with expertise in geophysical fluid dynamics, coupling between clouds and radiation, climate dynamics, and/or planetary atmospheres across a range of spatial and temporal scales.

Responsibilities

  • The new faculty member will be expected to build and maintain a strong, internationally recognized research program supported through external funding, complement and expand upon current research and teaching activities, and provide service to the University and broader community.
  • She/he will contribute to teaching and intellectual leadership in our atmospheric science curriculum at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels by teaching courses in the Department’s core graduate curriculum, advising graduate students, and developing advanced courses in his or her areas of expertise.

Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a related field is required by the position start date.
  • Research areas of dynamics and physics of the climate system.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have an outstanding research record in the areas of dynamics and physics of the climate system and should demonstrate potential for continued extraordinary scholarship.
  • Candidates should exhibit ability and enthusiasm to teach courses in their respective areas of interest in the department’s graduate curriculum.
  • Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Candidates should have expertise in the dynamics and physics of the climate system.
