Wildlife Field Biologist

Although based in California, HTH has completed projects and conducted ecological research throughout western North America, Hawai'i and throughout the eastern Pacific Ocean and intends to open an office in Hawai'i. For over 40 years, HTH has created ecologically sound solutions to our clients' complex natural resource challenges.

Position Overview

We have an immediate opening in our San Luis Obispo office for a wildlife field biologist to work from mid-August through October. The duration of the position may be extended, depending on project schedules.

Responsibilities

• The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting preconstruction surveys for nesting birds and special-status species, and performing construction monitoring.
• This position will sometimes require a person to navigate varying and rugged terrain safely and potentially alone in a variety of weather conditions.
• The position may require overnight travel and weekend work.
  

Qualifications

• Solid field experience.
• A demonstrable background in ecology or wildlife management and broad knowledge of the biology of California’s fauna.
• Experience with the burrowing owl, Swainson’s hawk, San Joaquin kit fox, giant kangaroo rat, and/ or San Joaquin antelope squirrel is a plus.
• Candidates with a strong academic background in biological studies, natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology, or an equivalent subject are preferred.
