~ GDS’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Department (EERD) includes over 60 engineers and consultants providing services to clients throughout North America within and across the Company’s corporate and regional offices, including our 20+ person Northeast Region Office. ~
EERD provides expertise in addressing the complex economic, engineering, scientific, and governmental issues associated with energy efficiency and renewable energy resources that impact utilities, government agencies, developers, and their customers. Commercial/Industrial energy audits and technical support, renewable resource portfolio standards assessment and development, Integrated (renewable, fossil-fueled and energy efficiency technology) resource planning support, feasibility and market potential studies, expert testimony, rate impact analysis, and renewable energy resource risk assessments are just a few of the valued services offered by our EERD expert staff of policy strategists, engineers, and analysts.
Position Overview
GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting and challenging opportunity with advancement and growth potential for an Engineer in the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Department. This position is based out of GDS’s Manchester, NH Northeast Region office. The main responsibilities are listed below.
Responsibilities
- Managing energy audits and retro-commissioning studies in commercial, industrial, municipal, agricultural and public housing authority buildings.
- Preparing and managing the development of technical reports, including on-site data collection and identification of energy conservation opportunities, technical energy savings analysis, construction cost estimating, written report development and interaction with clients throughout the process.
- Using energy modeling software (DOE 2, eQuest, Trane Trace, EnergyPlus, etc.), Excel worksheets, and on-line web tools/benchmarking models (ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager) to calculate and verify energy savings.
- Providing energy efficiency and renewable energy program implementation and technical assistance support for utility clients, state agencies, organizations and direct end-use customers.
- Conducting energy efficiency program measurement and verification activities including impact evaluations (installing and interpreting results from equipment loading and data logging devices)
- Developing and reviewing engineering estimates of energy savings for energy efficiency, renewable energy and demand response measures and programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field. Mechanical or electrical preferred.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Engineer in Training (Passed FE exam) required. Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience with commercial/industrial building systems design, commissioning, or energy studies. Commissioning experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of major building systems, design and operation. Experience with industrial process is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage projects from start to finish.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access).
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills (some statistical analysis experience preferred).
- Effective oral/written communication skills for working with customers.
- Available for moderate domestic travel (10-40%).
