Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing guidance towards the safe and efficient handling and processing of all Integrated Waste Stream Solutions (IWSS) contracted by the facility(s). Ensures the services provided to the facility(s) by Stericycle and Stericycle vendors consistently meets customer service expectations, regulatory and safety compliance measures, and operates in a productive and profitable manner. Maintains or exceeds margins in line with Stericycle standards or projected goals for the customer.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the IWSS Program within assigned geography. Serve as the project leader in managing key service conversions.
- Work with selected vendors to proactively plan out the key steps in the conversion to meet customer requirements in terms of timing and service.
- Order equipment and coordinate the placement of equipment throughout the facility.
- In partnership with the Integrated Waste Compliance Consultant, follow up and provide additional training required by the account.
- Work with the key decision makers within assigned account to ensure a smooth transition to services provided by Stericycle or its vendors.
- Resolve problems that may arise whether internal or external with the utmost professionalism. Monitors the performance of each service provider to ensure their performance and cost goals are being achieved.
- Serves as the main point of contact for all service related issues.
- Ensures service requirements are met.
- Monitors all invoices for accuracy.
- Looks for ways to reduce costs (including vendor costs) while still meeting the customer’s expectations. Builds good relationships with key decision makers within assigned accounts and keeps them advised of the program’s progress.
- Participates in the hospital’s Green Teams and Environment of Care Committees.
- Provides follow up and ongoing training for IWSS service specifics for hospital staff and employees. Is viewed as the sustainability specialist to all assigned customers.
- Provides regular updates on progress to internal Stericycle teammates as well as the customer.
- Looks for new opportunities to reduce cost and improve performance. Ensures hospital waste streams are managed in a safe and compliant manner.
- Provides expert knowledge on each of the regulations associated with the waste streams being managed (i.e., EPA, DOT, OSHA, The Joint Commission and any other state or local regulations).
- In partnership with the Integrated Waste Compliance Specialist, train hospital personnel on the regulatory requirements of the waste streams being managed. (i.e., DOT)
- Utilize the Integrated Waste Compliance Specialist for annual compliance audits and ongoing unit to unit training, as needed, to achieve program goals.
- Proactively works with the customer to address compliance concerns in a helpful and consultative manner. Ensures Stericycle gross profit goals are achieved.
- Reduce Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) (training & container placement).
- Reduce the price of services (manage vendor charges).
- Reduce service expense (i.e., reduced pulls).
- Successful waste diversion (i.e., solid waste out of RMW, recycling material out of solid waste).
- Proactively looks for new ways or services to increase the profitability of the program (i.e. composting, recycling medical equipment, etc.).
- Ensure high customer satisfaction with the program so Stericycle is well positioned for future renewals.
- Maintains an organized day-to-day work environment handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- On an ongoing basis, provides the customer quick resolution and follow-up on all projects and issues.
- Monitors department work productivity, reports on market and green trends either locally or nationally, and recommends and implements changes to continually improve work productivity.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement is High School diploma, college degree preferred.
- 5 or more year’s related experience or training in a hospital environment, demonstrating strong communication skills, training experience or equivalent in related work required.
- Candidate is confident with public speaking duties.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Joint Commission, EPA, DOT and OSHA standards and regulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Microsoft Office Products; Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all hospital related waste streams, Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations.
- May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.
- Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and communication throughout the hospital.
