Our current campaigns focus on shifting corporate behavior, breaking the human addiction to fossil fuels, and developing the leadership required to catalyze long-term change.
Position Overview
The Forest Campaigner will be responsible for carrying out our forestry campaign which pressures some of North America’s largest brands to change their paper procurement policies and champion forest protection with their suppliers. Our forest campaign also works with stakeholders in Canada to achieve large-scale forest protection agreements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute market-based campaign strategies that support forest protection, integrating online and offline tactics to achieve campaign goals.
- Work with senior staff to lead direct communications and negotiations with corporate targets.
- Conduct, direct or support industry and issue-focused research to be used for crafting campaign strategy.
- Recruit and engage supporters online and offline.
- Build relationships and coordinate activities with partner organizations and allies
- Work with teammates to craft compelling external content and publicly communicate the campaign’s positions to the media.
- Work with development department on foundation proposals and identifying key fundraising moments during the course of the campaign.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of campaign experience. Direct experience with corporate/markets campaigns strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of forestry issues a must.
- Strong writing skills - ability to draft compelling messaging for on/off line communications.
- Social media engagement - understands the role social media plays in successful campaigning
- Desire to learn new digital skills and tactics that will engage supporters to achieve campaign goals.
- Demonstrated success managing volunteers, identifying organizational needs, and problem solving.
- Highly organized, flexible, creative, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and able to thrive in a fast-paced and ever changing environment.
- Independent and motivated.

Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position with excellent benefits - the salary range is 55,000 - 65,000 CAD.
