Solar PV Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

We currently seek an Electrical Engineer with Solar PV experience to partner with our Northeast Solar PV Team in the design, management, and implementation of Solar PV Power projects for industrial, commercial, utility and institutional customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Developers to gain understanding of design intent and customer requirements.
• Perform site visits for detailed engineering review of project site, including evaluation of electrical interconnection, civil and site conditions.
• Develop detailed construction drawing sets for Solar PV projects (including PV Module layouts, electrical one-line and three-line diagrams, electrical layouts and details) and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and protocol.
• Coordinate with outside engineers providing relay protection, medium voltage, civil, and structural design services.
• Facilitate engineering input from third party firms and product manufacturers.
• Coordinate with Construction Managers on local permitting requirements.
• Assist Construction Management Team with equipment procurement.
• Perform regular project site visits during construction to ensure installation is in accordance with permitted construction documents and industry standards.
• Provide collaborative technical support to all parties throughout project design, construction, and implementation.
• Assisting Project Commissioning Team with testing procedures, punch list development.
• Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS Engineering plus minimum 4-6 years electrical engineering experience including 1-2 years solar PV project engineering experience focusing on site assessment, design and engineering, construction and installation.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Electrical Engineer Registration preferred.
• Working knowledge of PV, Engineering, Construction, Safety, and Industry standards and the National Electrical Code.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing full construction documents and implementing Solar PV system commissioning procedures.
• Experience with large scale ground mount, roof and canopy Solar PV projects.
• Excellent verbal, written, computer, and technical communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project, AutoCad.
• Familiarity with Solar PV system simulation using PVsyst and other PV software.
• Valid Drivers License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
• May be required to pass security clearance investigation.
• Travel required to project sites, mostly located in the region.
