As our services and locations expanded, Tuscaloosa Testing Laboratory became TTL, Inc. in 1985. Today, our services include geotechnical engineering, analytical laboratory testing, construction materials testing and environmental consulting. TTL has 7 offices throughout the southeast which includes Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Decatur, AL; Albany & Valdosta, GA; Nashville, TN; and San Antonio, TX.

Position Overview

TTL, Inc. has an opening for an Environmental Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine field environmental sampling of groundwater, storm water soil, etc.
  • Monitors, observes, samples, and records field environmental conditions.
  • Performs maintenance on remediation systems.
  • Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintains cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.
  • Prepares daily reports and data sheets. Operates with close to moderate supervision.
  • Typical activities include, but are not limited to: map reading, maintain chain-of-custody forms, utilize equipment to measure field parameters, environmental site inspections, field inspections or drilling access and general utility clearance.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred. emphasis in physical sciences and/or math.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience as an Environmental Technician OR recent college graduate.
  • Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS.
  • Ability to travel overnight, extended on occasions.
  • Good driving record.

Physical Fitness:

  • Perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs.
  • Possess sufficient stamina to work in outdoor (hot & cold) environment.
  • Be certified to wear a respirator.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair equipment and remediation systems.

Preferred:

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
