Position Overview
Emission Monitoring Services Inc. (EMSI) is seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Monitor organizational performance, develop compliance strategies, and maintain necessary environmental permits.
- Advise technical professionals on developing or using environmental compliance or reporting tools.
- Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies.
- Conduct internal reviews or audits to make sure that compliance procedures are being followed.
- Design or implement better communication, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards.
- Evaluate testing procedures to meet the specifications of environmental monitoring programs.
- Provide regulatory guidance to facility management and other relevant departments.
- Perform independent research and analyses in support of regulatory projects and programs.
- Recommend new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify operations, reduce costs, reduce the regulatory burden, correct non-compliance, and ensure over adherence to regulations.
- Oversee the identification and application of elements of the corrective action process, including problem identification, failure analysis, root cause analysis, problem correction, recurrent control and verification of effectiveness.
- Facilitate data collection plans, including consideration of how the data will be collected.
- Review or change policies to comply with changes to environmental standards or regulations.

Education:
- Bachelors or better in Environmental and Earth Science or related field.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or 8 years of related experience.
- Professional knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of engineering.
- Apply professional engineering competence with specialized knowledge of chemistry and biological science.
- 5 yrs. of experience LDAR or emissions monitoring, including hands-on experience submissions.
- In depth knowledge of TCEQ and EPA laws and regulations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Travel – up to 60% travel.
