Position Overview
Project Engineer: Electrical Engineering with Project Experience (Annapolis, MD).
We are seeking a Project Engineer with an electrical engineering background and project experience to support our Skipjack Wind Farm, Maryland’s first offshore wind farm. The Project Engineer will be based in our Annapolis, MD office and will work in Deepwater’s engineering and operations team and as part of a larger multi-disciplinary development, construction and operations team.
The Project Engineer’s role will be to manage specific projects necessary to support the Skipjack Wind Farm. Anticipated near-term projects include design of submarine cable, terrestrial cable, substation, project interconnection.
Responsibilities
- Manage the engineers/surveyors assigned to engineering scopes;
- Stay current with design standards and latest relevant technologies;
- Develop cost-effective engineering scope execution plans, specifications, schedules and budgets;
- Manage the execution of engineering scopes in accordance with approved project execution plans, specifications, permits, budgets and schedules;
- Report engineering scope execution, schedule and budget status periodically;
- Promote the highest quality and safety standards and to ensure compliance with all corporate quality and safety procedures;
- Ensure engineering services are procured in accordance with the approved project plans and corporate procedures including approval by the general counsel;
- Ensure suppliers and contractors deliver engineering services in accordance with the contract, specifications, schedule, budget and agreed quality and safety standards;
- Ensure all activities comply with all relevant legislation, regulations, codes, permits and corporate quality and safety procedures;
- Ensure that all engineering documents will be reviewed internally or by a third party to guarantee a minimum quality standard;
- Ensure that all engineering documents are approved by the Skipjack Certified Verification Agent (CVA) as applicable and are signed off by a licensed engineer as necessary;
- Provide agreed engineering support to permitting and Corporate development projects;
- Ensure engineering interfaces are managed in effective way utilizing the project interface management system;
- Ensure fit-for-purpose engineering input in all permitting applications; and
- Ensure adequate risk management with respect to engineering in accordance with the corporate risk management procedure.
Qualifications
- BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering;
- At least 3 years of project engineering experience: experience with offshore, near-shore or maritime projects and/or projects in Maryland would be a preference;
- Experience with Quality and HSE procedures;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Available to work out of Annapolis, MD office; and
- Travel to support business needs is required.
