Capstone Turbine Opens Shanghai Office

Capstone Turbine Corporation (Nasdaq:CPST) CEO John R. Tucker announced today that the company has officially opened a Capstone representative office in China. In a related announcement, Tucker confirmed that Walter J. (Chuck) McBride, Capstone’s Executive Vice-President & CFO, will be joining Arnold Schwarzenegger on the California’s governor’s trade mission to China this month. “Working with our distributor in China, Shanghai Aerospace Energy, we expect China will become one of our leading customers in the years ahead,” said McBride. Capstone’s new representative office is located in Shanghai. At Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University, one of China’s top technical institutes, two Capstone MicroTurbines currently supplement power to the university. The near-zero-emission exhaust of the systems directly drives an absorption chiller that creates cold air conditioning from heat energy instead of electric energy. Schwarzenegger’s week-long, mid-November trade mission to promote the use of California-made products in the world’s most populous nation will make stops in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. Representatives from a number of California-based companies will join the governor, including those in the tourism, agricultural, technology, financial and other industries. “Capstone is the only energy equipment manufacturer involved in this trade mission,” McBride said.
