Alternative energy legislation sponsored by Democrats in the Senate would create 530,000 good, family-supporting American jobs, according to a new report released by the Apollo Alliance. Half of these would be high-paying jobs manufacturing wind turbines, solar panels and energy efficient vehicles. Another 10 percent would be high-paying construction jobs as Americans go to work building wind farms, energy efficient homes and businesses, and new transit systems. The report includes state-specific numbers illustrating that the Clean EDGE Act of 2006 would create thousands of jobs in every state in the nation, including many of those states hardest hit by the loss of 3 million manufacturing jobs. The Clean EDGE Act alone would replace 8 percent of these manufacturing jobs lost since 2000 in America. Apollo Alliance president Jerome Ringo said his group has a 10-step national agenda to create energy independence by the year 2015. The alliance represents a coalition of national security, labor, environmental, civil rights and business leaders who are fighting for energy independence from foreign energy sources. It’s time to kick American into high-gear with a modern Apollo plan that sets America free from dangerous, foreign oil, while creating millions of new jobs”, said Ringo. With gas […]

SatCon Electronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of SatCon Technology Corporation® (Nasdaq NM: SATC) has introduced the Power-Pak series of high reliability switching regulators. Switching regulators are a vital component for the latest military and aerospace distributed power architectures. These new regulators will service applications in Defense, Aerospace, Avionics, and Communication systems. Jack Worthen, SatCon Electronics President, stated, “We are very excited about the introduction of next generation technology for high reliability power management. SatCon offers the smallest form factor and highest power density in the military & aerospace market”. Worthen further added, “Until now engineers depended on power-hungry linear regulators for low voltage post regulation applications. Future power systems can be smaller and much more efficient when Point of Load (POL) products are used. POL regulators represent a new market area for Military and Aerospace applications. Market studies show that the use of switching regulators will triple in the next few years, eventually overtaking and displacing much of the existing linear regulator market. The introduction of the Power-Pak series will establish SatCon as an innovative leader in high reliability power management products. We expect that this series along with several new products in development to be significant contributors to future […]
