VeraSun to Acquire 330M Gallons of Ethanol Production Capacity

VeraSun Energy Corporation plans to acquire three ethanol plants with a combined annual production capacity of 330 million gallons per year (MMGY) from ASAlliances Biofuels, LLC for $725 million. The three facilities are each expected to operate at 110MMGY and are located in Albion, Nebraska, Bloomingburg, Ohio, and Linden, Indiana. The acquisition should become final in 30 to 45 days and is subject to customary closing conditions. The facilities will provide VeraSun with immediate production capacity and revenue. The Linden facility will begin startup operations this month, followed by Albion in the fourth quarter and Bloomingburg by the end of first quarter 2008. Q-Cells Increases Stake in Solaria Corporation

Q-Cells AG increased its stake in the American Solaria Corporation in the context of a new round of financing from 12.39% to 33%. Financial investors Sigma Partners, NGEN and the Indian company Moser Baer are also involved in financing of USD 50 million, scheduled for the expansion of the production facilities and further development work. Silicon Valley-based Solaria Corporation develops innovative cell and module technologies which fit seamlessly into the existing value-add chain. Based on an extensive IP portfolio, Solaria’s technology combines concentration with cell singulation to achieve increased power output while contributing to further price reduction within photovoltaics. Ormat Signs 20-Year PPA with Highline Electric

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) has signed a 20-years Recovered Energy Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Highline Electric Association, a consumer-owned cooperative serving load in Colorado and Nebraska, for the sale of electricity generated from a 4MW ORMAT® Recovered Energy Generation (REG) power plant to be constructed along a Natural Gas compression station near Denver, Colorado. The facility will convert waste heat from the exhaust of existing gas turbines into clean energy, and is expected to be commissioned in mid-2009. Ormat will own and operate this facility through the term of the PPA. Ormat has secured the rights to use the waste heat under a Waste Heat Host Agreement with Trailblazer Pipeline Company, which owned by Kinder Morgan Energy Partners. Trailblazer Pipeline Company owns and operates the gas compression station where the new facility will be built. Trailblazer owns 436 miles of natural gas pipelines that traverse from Colorado through southeastern Wyoming into Nebraska. The energy produced from the REG plant will contribute to Highline’s Renewable Portfolio Standards requirement, in accordance with the legislations in Colorado.
