A last ditch effort to turn the table on Trump and make Clinton President has almost 4.5 million signatures.
Have you seen the petition?
It asks the people who will cast their electoral vote on December 19 to simply vote for Clinton, who won the popular vote – by over 1 million votes.
This is actually allowed.
There is “no clear requirement in the Constitution that electors vote for the candidate they’re pledged to but it’s very unlikely that defections will happen now,” law professor Kermit Roosevelt told USA Today.
It’s worth a try!!
The petition, addressed to Electors, argues that Donald Trump is “unfit to serve” and that Clinton won the popular vote. It says:
The Founders created the Electoral College to balance two important values: the will of the people, and the need for a President who is fit for office.
Denying Mr. Trump the Presidency accomplishes both goals while violating no Constitutional principle.
In Federalist No. 68, Hamilton explains that the “sense of the people”, must be expressed in the outcome. But, “Men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice,” should make the final decision.
Hamilton pointed out that, “Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United States”.
Casting your ballot for Hillary preserves majority rule – the “sense of the people” – and prevents the most unqualified candidate in history from taking office. Never in our Republic’s 240 years has our President had no previous experience in an office of public trust, be it elected or appointed, civilian or military. Never has a President admitted to sexual assaults. Never has a President encouraged violence at campaign events.
There is no reason electors cannot vote with their conscience. They are not taking away the majority vote, and are not violating the Constitution.
Please protect our Constitution and our Republic by casting your ballot for Hillary Clinton.
Need More Reasons?
While astrophysicist Steve Hawking says he can’t explain the rise of Trump, calling him a demagogue who “seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator,” there’s an even more immediate danger: runaway climate change.
“A rise in ocean temperature,” he says, “would melt the ice caps and cause a release of large amounts of carbon dioxide from the ocean floor. Both effects could make our climate like that of Venus, with a temperature of 250 degrees.”
Or how about Trump’s endless conflicts of interest? His blatant ties to Russia during the campaign and his business interests in Turkey … while he receives intelligence only for the president’s ears?
While Clinton lost the electoral vote for various reasons, there is no doubt that voter suppression and the FBI’s strategic interference are key factors, potentially compounded by Wikileaks and election rigging. In Wisconsin, for example, where she lost by 27,000 votes, about 300,000 people didn’t vote because they lacked the proper state ID. In other states, over a million people were purged from voter rolls. Other examples are in Florida and North Carolina, all critical to win the election.
This election was the first in 50 years without the protection of the federal Voting Rights Act, after conservatives on the Supreme Court eviscerated it.
Yes, the election was rigged, Donald Trump, but in YOUR favor. “This country is violently divided, but in the end, there simply aren’t enough white guys to elect Trump nor a Republican Senate. The only way they could win was to eliminate the votes of non-white guys – and they did so by tossing Black provisional ballots into the dumpster, ID laws that turn away students – the list goes on,” says Greg Palast.

Senator Boxer (D-CA) is introducing legislation to dismantle the Electoral College altogether, and Alan Grayson’s (D-FL) bill in the House would allow voters to check off “neither candidate” when they vote.
