In a survey of priorities for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, the vast majority want the focus on projects that increase prosperity for all:
- Rebuild our aging infrastructure (83%)
- Build Clean Power Plants (51%)
- Secure water sources (48%)
- Expand cities’ rail systems (28%)
- Build Regional High Speed Rail (21%)
Only 10% prioritize the need to build projects that protect against sea level rise, but a major concern cited is the need to make buildings more resilient to natural disasters.
When asked what they think will impact the construction industry the most, they point to housing needs from a rising population (45%) and climate change/energy efficiency (41%).
