After all the anti-science blowback associated with the frigid weather, The White House released it’s own video on the Polar Vortex and made it the subject of its new "We the Geeks" series of conversations on science and technology.
We the Geeks: "Polar Vortex" and Extreme Weather – takes place this Friday, January 10th at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Watch the show at WhiteHouse.gov/We-The-Geeks and on the White House Google+ page. You can ask questions at the Google+ page or send tweets using the hashtag #WeTheGeeks.
Leading meteorologists and climate scientists will talk about why temperatures dipped to such frigid lows this week, how weather experts turn raw data into useful forecasts, and what we know about extreme weather events in the context of a changing climate.
• Stephanie Abrams, The Weather Channel
• Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd, President of the American Meteorological Society and Professor, University of Georgia
• Jim Overland, Arctic researcher at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

• Bernadette Woods Placky, Emmy-award winning Meteorologist at Climate Central
"We the Geeks" is a series of Google+ Hangouts to discuss science, technology, and innovation in the United States. Topics from commercial space exploration to STEM education (science, technology, engineering,
and math)
will be discussed with Administration officials and key private sector
