After raising $60 million just six months ago, View has pulled in a $100 million equity investment for its green building product, dynamic glass.
Madrone Capital Partners chipped in this latest infusion and joined View’s board of directors. View has now raised a total of $280 million for its glass, which automatically tints windows to control heat and glare.
Typically, it cuts energy consumption from lighting and HVAC by 20% and reduces HVAC peak load by 25%.
Since launching the first large-scale commercialization of dynamic glass in late 2012, View has installed more than 50 projects at corporate campuses, educational institutions, government buildings, hotels and hospitals across North America. Customers include NASA, the Marine Corp, San Francisco’s Airport, and Hilton Hotels & Resorts.
“We have been closely
following View for the past few years, and we are impressed by its tremendous progress," says Thomas Patterson, Madrone co-founder. "This investment represents a high growth
opportunity, enabled by a game-changing product in a very large market."
Dynamic smart windows are one of the high growth segments of the green building industry, expected to reach a $418 million market by 2020.
