Last week we reported that House Republicans wouldn’t approve an additional $100 million needed for emergency disaster aid with out equal spending cuts from DOE’s renewable energy program.
They passed a bill that cut $100 million from the DOE program (which gave the loan to Solyndra) as well as $1.5 billion from the Energy Department’s Advanced Technology Vehicle Management loan program, which funds manufacturers to develop electric vehicle components.
Congress averted a government shutdown Monday night when FEMA said they could survive without the additional funds for the rest of this year, thus preserving the DOE renewable energy funding.
