Wind Turbine for Homes, Small Businesses at Your Local Hardware Store

WindTronics announced today the launch of its Honeywell Wind Turbine, which produces power at winds of just 2 mph, and can now be bought at your local hardware store like Ace Hardware, True Value.

Its small size, light weight and negligible noise provides a new option for people who want to generate renewable energy for their home or business. The price starts at $5,759 (plus installation).

Weighing less than 185 pounds and measuring only six feet in diameter, the turbine produces up to 1500 kWh a year depending on height and location.

The gearless wind turbine features an innovative Blade Tip Power SystemTM that uses a system of magnets and stators surrounding its outer ring to capture power at the blade tips where speed is greatest, practically eliminating mechanical resistance and drag. That means it starts turning at 0.5 mph and generates energy in 2 mph of wind.

The turbine can either be mounted on a rooftop or use a pole and it can be connected to the grid or to batteries. It can be installed by a licensed electrician – Windtronics has a list of authorized installers.

Authorized full-service WindTronics’ dealers will work closely with potential customers to oversee the entire purchase process, which includes:

  • appropriate site selection for the turbine
  • mounting possibilities
  • local incentive and rebate programs
  • connection with a local certified installer
  • service and warranty questions
