Tampa, Florida Solar Rebates Sell Out in 3 Days

Florida residents rushed to take advantage of rebates Tampa Electric offered for solar PV installations – the $1 million in the pot was gone within 72 hours. The rebates were good for homes and businesses.

The utility was offering a rebate of $2 per watt up to a maximum of $20,000 on PV installations.  

Rebates are still available for residential customers that want to install a solar water heater. Up to $1000 in rebates are available.

There won’t be another round of solar PV rebates until 2012, which will start another five year cycle.

Customers can also purchase solar by signing up for $5 blocks of renewable energy. For each block purchased, Tampa Electric distributes 200 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy.
