Sovello Canada Inc., a subsidiary of the solar module manufacturer Sovello Germany, announced a multi-year contract with Celestica (NYSE: CLS) to manufacture 167 MW of solar modules in Ontario, Canada.
This agreement provides Sovello Canada with the ability to supply solar modules that meet the domestic content requirements for Ontario’s feed-in tariff.
The first shipments are expected to commence in 1Q11.
Sovello is an integrated manufacturer of thin film solar cells and modules. In 2010, Ventizz Capital Fund IV purchased the startup from the multinational partnership that developed it–Massachusett-based Evergreen Solar Inc (Nasdaq: ESLR), Germany’s Q-Cells SE (QCE.DE) and Norway’s REC ASA (REC.OL).
Sovello operates three production plants in Germany with a combined capacity of 180 MW.
