Power-One Opens First North American Manufacturing

Inverter manufacturer, Power-One, Inc.(Nasdaq: PWER), has opened its first North American manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona, to produce photovoltaic and wind power inverters.

The 122,000 square-foot facility is expected to reach a capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW) of products by the end of the year with available site capacity reaching 4 (GW). At full capacity, the facility would employ about 350 people.

“Arizona now ranks number one in the nation for solar industry and manufacturing and we are the best in the nation when it comes to competing globally for solar energy companies that are relocating and expanding,” said Gov. Jan Brewer, who presided over the grand opening ceremony.
