Siemens to Suppy 260 Wind Turbines To Enel Green Power

Siemens (NYSE: SI) has concluded a framework agreement with Enel Green Power for the supply of up to 260 wind turbines for various wind farms in Europe.

The total capacity of the onshore turbines is 600 megawatts (MW), sufficient to supply more than 350,000 European households with clean wind power. The agreement with the subsidiary of the Italian utility Enel S.p.A. (ENEL.MI) provides for delivery of the turbines between 2011 and 2014 and includes an option for delivery of a further 600 MW of wind turbines.

Maintenance of the turbines is also part of the agreement.

“Through this agreement with Enel Green Power we are closer to our goal of being one of the top three suppliers in the overall market for wind power by 2012,” said René Umlauft, CEO of the Renewable Energy Division in Siemens’ Energy Sector.

Under the supply agreement, Siemens will deliver different types of wind turbines, rated at either 2.3 or 3.6 MW, featuring rotor diameters between 82 and 107 meters. The turbines will be deployed at onshore wind power plants in Italy, France, the Iberian Peninsula, Greece Romania and Bulgaria.

The scope of supply also includes the delivery, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a service agreement.

Enel Green Power IPO Update

Enel on Saturday confirmed that it will shares of Enel Green Power at EUR 1.60 each–lower than the previously announced range, but still enough to raise about EUR 2.6 billion in one of the largest ever IPO’s in the cleantech industry.
