Trina Solar To Supply Modules for SunEdison Projects

China’s Trina Solar Limited (NYSE:TSL) announced that its U.S. subsidiary has signed a sales agreement to supply solar modules to project developer SunEdison, a subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. (NYSE: WFR).

Trina Solar (U.S.) Inc. is expected to supply SunEdison with approximately 35 megawatts (MW) of PV modules over the remainder of 2010. The modules are expected to be utilized by SunEdison for projects in North America and Europe.

In June, Trina Solar signed a supply agreement to deliver 45 MW of modules to Southern California Edison for use in the company’s rooftop solar program.

SunEdison has numerous projects in its North American development pipeline. Earlier this month, the company partnered with DRI Energy for up to 19 MW worth of projects in Califonia, Hawaii and Arizona. In June, SunEdison acquired development rights for projects in Ontario, Canada, from TransAlta (TA.TO).

In May, SunEdison announced a joint venture with private equity firm First Reserve Corporation that could fund up to $1.5 billion in photovoltaic projects. And the company is working with Weingarten Realty Investors (NYSE:WRI) for the deployment of up to 10 MW in Arizona and New Mexico.
