Science is granting free online access to a series of special features on alternative energy until Friday, August 27.
Science content is usually available only to subscribers, but the magazines editors at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, said the issues are of such importance to the public that they want to make the special section, "Scaling Up Alternative Energy," open to all. (Registration on the site is required.)
The secton explores worldwide efforts to develop clean, renewable alternatives to fossil fuels, highlighting some of the challenges and giving perspectives on research into biofuels and other technologies.
The secton also includes a review of a two-stage approach for expanding nuclear power generation and an all-energy podcast featuring interviews with authors of the featured reports.
