Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES Americas), a company involved in the development and construction of renewable energy projects, has created RES Earth and Cable, LLC.
RES Americas acquired the construction assets and workforce of Key Enterprises, Inc., a contractor specializing in construction techniques associated with the construction of wind energy and utilities projects. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Based in Austin, Texas, Key Enterprises is focused on trenching, underground utilities, road construction, electrical cable installation, civil work, and rock crushing.
In creating RES Earth and Cable, LLC, RES Americas will acquire earth-moving and cable laying equipment as well as a skilled workforce, resulting in increased internal construction capabilities.
While RES Americas will now have greater potential for construction, the company said it will continue to use subcontractors and partners on various projects across the country.
In addition to working on certain RES Americas projects, RES Earth and Cable, LLC will provide construction services to third-party clients in the Utility and Wind Energy business sectors.
RES Americas develops, constructs, owns, and operates projects across the United States (US), Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. RES Americas has constructed more than 3,800 MW of wind, which represents more than 10% of the operating installed wind capacity in the US, and has over 753 MW under construction and 12,500 MW in development. RES Americas’ corporate office is located in Broomfield, CO with regional offices located in Austin, TX; Portland, OR; Minneapolis, MN. Canadian projects are managed from Montreal, Quebec, by its affiliate, RES Canada.
Earlier this month Enbridge Inc. (NYSE: ENB) announced that RES Americas will be the construction contractor on a new $500 million wind farm to be built in Colorado.
