GridPoint, Inc. announced that is has been awarded a contract with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to install energy management systems in selected post office locations across the US.
The agreement, known as an “Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity” or
IDIQ contract, provides for an indefinite quantity of supplies
delivered over a three-year period. Under this contract, GridPoint
energy management systems may be installed in up to 2,250 USPS locations
across the country. The first year of the contract allows for up to 750
locations with the option for two one-year extensions to install
systems in an additional 750 locations each year.
According to reports, the contract could be worth up to $28.7 million. It follows a successful pilot project in 16 locations.
USPS has set a goal of a 30% reduction in facility energy use by 2015. USPS has already reduced facility energy intensity (BTUs per square foot) usage by 21% since 2003 through conservation efforts.
GridPoint’s submetering and energy management systems help lower utility costs–including electricity, gas and water expenses.
Detailed energy data allow customers to more clearly understand where energy is being consumed and to take action to save money, reduce maintenance and extend the life of critical equipment.
GridPoint says most customers realize a payback on their investment in less than 24 months.
