SunLink Mounting Systems Chosen For San Francisco Solar Project

California-based SunLink Corporation has begun shipping its roof-mounting systems to San Francisco for use in the city’s 5 megawatts (MW) project located on the Sunset Reservoir in San Francisco, California.

Develoer Recurrent Energy chose SunLink’s product for mounting more than 23,000 Suntech (NYSE:STP) solar modules on the flat rooftop of the Reservoir. The mounts were chosen, in part, because they will not penetrate the roof of the reservoir.

"We have worked in cooperation with SunLink on numerous solar projects and we continue to be impressed with their value-added services and reliable mounting technology," said Arno Harris, CEO, Recurrent Energy.

Upon completion in the Fall this year, the Sunset Reservoir project will more than triple the municipal solar generation in San Francisco and reduce carbon emissions by over 100,000 metric tons. The solar plant is being developed and operated under a Power Purchase Agreement between the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and Recurrent Energy. The clean solar electricity will be fed into the distribution grid and used by the General Hospital, San Francisco International Airport, Muni light rail, public schools throughout the city, and streetlights.

SunLink Corporation, based in San Rafael, CA, designs and manufactures rooftop and ground mounted systems for commercial and utility-scale installations. SunLink says its systems have been used in more than 60 MW of projects at 400 sites across North America.
